Tour Itinerary SIC-B Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven etc. Highlights: The first stop of the day is Tian'anmen Square, the largest city center square in the world surrounded by halls/monuments in tribute to the revolution and the resulting PRC. (wear plenty of sunblock if you are here on a hot day) The Tian'anmen Gate is the only Ming Qing structure in the area, and served as one of the entrances into the Outer Forbidden City. We'll follow in the emperors and their subjects' footsteps and proceed to the Forbidden City, the imperial palace for two dynasties spanning 800 years. Its sheer size and intentionally convoluted hallways will overwhelm most first-time visitors. Our guide will help you to explore the complex to the maximum within the given time. It's onto the Temple of Heaven after a hearty lunch. Originally the imperial worshipping ground where (only) the emperors prayed for good harvests, it is the largest temple and altar complex in the country and home to many architectural wonders - including the round Temple of Heaven itself. Our final stop is the retreat of emperors for 800 years, the Summer Palace. Its man-made lakes and the open-air hallways (the longest in the world) will soothe your weariness just as they have once done for the emperors and their consorts. A busy day as it is, we'll still have time to shop at the Pearl Market for some incredibly good bargains.
